Meals on Wheels & Dial-A-Ride Bus Service
Meals on Wheels
Daily hot lunch and cold dinners are available Mondays - Saturdays.
This program is funded in part through the Town of Somers and additional grants.
If you or a loved one are unable to prepare your own meals for any length of time and want to ensure that you are receiving a well balanced nutritious diet, you should consider registering with the Somers Meals on Wheels program. All our meals are individually prepared at the Plaza Restaurant in Somers, and cater specifically to your dietary needs. Our volunteer drivers are courteous and always deliver your meal with a pleasant smile.
If you are interested in taking part in our Meals on Wheels program, you may contact Meals on Wheels Coordinator, Susan King @ 749-9648 or Municipal Agent Jenifer Charette @ 763-4379.
We are always looking for Meals on Wheels Drivers! Please call Susan King if you are interested in participating in this very worthwhile program.
DIAL-A-RIDE Bus Service
The Somers Dial-A-Ride Bus operates Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm. We transport Somers Seniors and disabled passengers to their appointments and other destinations in Somers, Enfield and Stafford for a mere $1/ride.
If you are looking for transportation to a Doctor appointment, dialysis, haircut, shopping or even bingo, please give us a call at the Senior Center @ 763-4379 at least 2 days in advance if possible, and we will be happy to add you to our daily schedule.
Our drivers Sandy, Joe, Arnie and Roland are trained and certified by the GHTD and the State of Connecticut. They are helpful, courteous and happy to get you to your destination on time. Our bus is also equipped with a wheel chair lift for the convenient and safe transportation of our disabled residents.
