In 2019, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving established $100,000 community funds for each of the twenty nine towns in its region, which includes Somers. The purpose for the funds is for town residents to take ownership of the needs in their community by setting up the Somers Community Fund Advisory Committee (SCFAC) made up of town residents. A selection committee has been formed to conduct a broad, diversified outreach to Somers residents informing them of the opportunity to be part of the SCFAC. The selection committee is now accepting nominations. The role of advisory committee members will be to lead an inclusive process to identify community needs and design a resident engaged grant-making process aimed to ensure that the funds will have the greatest impact for the benefit of town residents. The committee with also be responsible for providing periodic updates to the Hartford Foundation and keeping track of funds available for grant-making. The Hartford Foundation staff will provide guidance to the committee. If you are interested in being a part of this wonderful opportunity, please complete an application. Or, if you would like to nominate someone for the SCFAC, please contact: SomersCF@gmail.com. Please return all applications no later than February 17, 2020. .
