Whereas, pursuant to Section 7-190(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Somers at a duly noticed Regular Board of Selectmen Meeting on January 16, 2025 appointed 7 members to the Charter Revision Commission all of Whom shall be residents and electors of the Town of Somers; and
Whereas, the names of those members hereby appointed to the Charter Revision Commission are attached.
Whereas, pursuant to Section 7-190(b) of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Somers, desires to make recommendation to the Charter Revision Commission; and
Whereas, pursuant to Section 7-190(b) of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Somers must establish when said Commission shall submit its draft report the Clerk of the Town of Somers for transmittal to the Board of Selectmen.
Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Somers that the following recommendations be directed to the Charter Revision Commission forthwith:
Shall the Town Clerk become an appointed rather than elected position?
Shall the Board of Selectmen appoint a Town Administrator who reports to them and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Town?
Shall the Zoning and Planning Boards be combined a single appointed body?
The review by the Charter Revision Commission is not restricted to the areas identified above.
Be it Further Resolved by the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Somers that the Charter Revision Commission submits to the Clerk of the Town of Somers it’s draft report no later than: June 18, 2025
