Friends of the Library Spring 2021 Used Book Sale

The Spring Sale will take place over tow (2) weekends at the Somers Library on 2 Vision Blvd.  Preview Sale Friday, May 14th and Open Sale begins on Saturday, May 15th.  Prices will range from 50 cents to $2.00 with additional savings for Educators.    Complete details are available from the following link:  Friends Of The Somers Library

2021 Road Resurfacing

This year’s resurfacing schedule includes; Milling and Paving of Battle Street, Shimming and Paving of Mountain View, Wood, and Stafford Roads.
The tentative schedule is for milling of Battle Street during the last week of May and shimming and paving of all roads in mid-June.
As with all plans, these projected schedules are subject to change.

The Somers Conservation Commission, at a regular meeting on May 5, 2021, voted to approve:

  1. App #740: 50 Hangdog Lane.  Construct Driveway and Repair Drainage, involving work within both Wetland and Upland Review Area.  Roulier Family Limited Partnership/Daniel R. Roulier.
  2. App #746: 21 Eleanor Road. Subdivision of property containing wetlands.  Eleanor Road Business Center.
  3. App #747: 47 Avery Road. Construction of an above-ground pool in the upland review area.  Edward and Barbara Czelazewicz.
  4. Appl #748: Watchaug Road.  Replacement of Watchaug Brook culverts.  Town of Somers.

The Somers Water Pollution Control Authority held a public
hearing at the Somers Town Hall on May 4, 2021 at 7:15 P.M.

After hearing public comments on the proposed 2021-22 sewer
user rates for the Somersville Sewage Treatment Facility and for
the Maple Ridge Community/On-Site systems, the following rates
were established:

Somersville Sewage Treatment Facility $290.00 per EDU

Maple Ridge Comm./O.S. System $165.00 per EDU

Said budgets are on file in the office of the Somers Town Clerk.

The 2021-22 Sewer User Bills will become due and payable on
October 1, 2021.

Budget Referendum May 11, 2021

The Town of Somers vote on the proposed 2021-2022 Budget by optical scan is scheduled by Tuesday, May 11, 2021 beginning at 6:00 am – 8:00 pm in the Town Hall Auditorium, 600 Main Street.  Residents are requested to provide proper identification, wear a mask and maintain proper distancing.  Absentee Ballots may be issued In-Person Only.   Guidelines for Absentee Ballots, the Application for a Ballot and a Sample Ballot is available from the following links:

The Somers Public Works Department is participating to help put an end to hunger during National Public Works Week.  Non-perishable goods will be accepted during the week of May 17th at Geissler’s.  All donations stay in Somers at ‘Champs Place’ at the Somers Congregational Church.  Details at the following link:
