Friends of the Somers, CT Library Spring 2024 Used Book Sale

The Friends of the Somers Library Used Book Sale is scheduled for April 19th to April 22nd at the Somers Public Library located at 2 Vision Boulevard off RT 190 in the school complex. Cash, check, and Visa/MC payments are accepted.

The Preview Sale is scheduled for Friday, April 19th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm for an entry fee of $10. Friends’ members are free. The Open Sale will take place on Saturday, April 20th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and Sunday, April 21st from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Saturday will have an Educators Special; Get 1 FREE book for every 10 purchased (equal or lesser value). Must show a current K-12 Teacher ID at time of purchase. Sunday is both half-price day and Stuff the Bag ($10 new/$5 with previously purchased ‘Friends of the Somers, CT Library’ bag). Truly a great value!

Notice is hereby given that a Presidential Preference Primary of the Republican and Democratic Parties will begin with early voting on March 26, 2024, through March 28, 2024, and March 30, 2024, with the primary being held on April 2, 2024, in each town.

SES HVAC & Electrical Improvements Project RFP

The Town of Somers, CT, on behalf of Somers Public Schools (SPS), is seeking proposals from
qualified firms for professional services to serve in a Program Management Oversight (PMO)
capacity for the upgrades to the HVAC systems upgrade at Somers Elementary School. The
work shall be performed in cooperation with SPS and town staff, the towns selected design
consultant (Consulting Engineering Services, Inc.), and Construction Manager (not selected
yet). The bid documents can be found here.

A certified list of thirty-five (35) Republican party-endorsed candidates for the Town of Somers for

election as Members of the Town Committee At-Large is on file in my office at 600 Main Street, Somers,

CT and copies are available for public distribution. The number of Town Committee Members to be

elected, under party rules, is thirty-five (35).

A primary will be held March 5, 2024 if nine (9) candidacies (which is at least 25% of the number of

town committee members to be elected by such party in the municipality) are filed in accordance with

SS9-382 to 9-450, inclusive, of the General Statutes, by persons other than party-endorsed candidates, not

later than 4:00 pm of January 31, 2024, provided the number of such candidacies plus the number of

endorsed candidates, exceeds the number of town committee members to be elected. (If the number of

opposing candidacies filed is reduced to less than such 25%, no primary will be held.) Petition forms,

instructions and information concerning the procedure for filing opposing candidacies, may be obtained
