Traffic Advisory this weekend, June 4th and 5th

The annual Paul Bowers Lacrosse Tournament will be held this weekend.
There will be traffic delays in the area of Ninth District Road and Main Street on Saturday, June 4, and Field Road by the Park, and the area of Ninth District Road and Main Street on Sunday.

DESIGN SERVICES FOR HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) SYSTEMS

The Town of Somers will be accepting written qualifications and price proposals from qualified engineering design firms to provide design services for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for the Somers Public Schools.

CT Water Main Flushing

An important message from Connecticut Water;
We will be flushing the water mains in your area Thursday, May 12th, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m..
You may experience pressure fluctuations and discolored water until flushing has been completed. We suggest avoiding the use of washing machines during these hours or until flushing is completed and any discolored water has cleared.

Request for Qualifications for Community Center

The Town of Somers is requesting Statements of Qualifications from professional, qualified firms or individuals experienced in the design and construction of Municipal facilities. The Town of Somers is seeking information on replacing its existing Senior Center with a new multi-use Community Center.
Responses to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) are sought from professional, qualified architectural firms capable of conducting a spatial and feasibility study and preparing a preliminary design for a new Community Center.

Celebrate Earth Day and Clean Up your Neighborhood

Step 1. Pick up your complimentary bags,
Step 2. Clean up your neighborhood,
Step 3, Cluster your bags together,
Step 4. Add your street to the collection list and the Public Works Department will pick it up. To ensure the DPW picks up the bags you’ve collected, please add your street to the list at the Q_R below!

The information from this will be passed back to the DPW at 8 PM on April 24, for pickup on Monday, April 25.

What is a CERT, and what do they do?
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
CERT allows you to meet new people and become a valuable asset to your community. In addition, you will learn new skills that prove beneficial in emergencies and everyday life.

To become a CERT member, you must pass the CERT Basic Training.

When and Where is the next basic training?
The next Somers CERT Basic Training is On Saturday, March 19th, and Sunday, March 20th. At the Somers Fire Department, 400 Main Street, Somers, CT 060712.
Both days begin at 8:00 AM and go all day. Refreshments and lunch are provided on both days.
